Fyke Progressive Web App

Installation Instructions

A progressive web app opens the website in an app wrapper. On a cellphone the install process will create a Home screen icon you can tap to directly open the Fyke Web App . It is not available in the App Store. You install it from a web browser after opening the Fyke website. You can install it on a laptop as well as on a cellphone.

Different Instructions for Different Devices

  1. 📱 iPhone (Safari)
    • On iOS, Safari will not automatically pop up an "Install" prompt; you need to add it manually through the share menu.
    • Open the Fyke website in Safari.
    • Tap the Share button at the bottom of the screen (the icon is a square with an upward arrow).
    • Scroll down in the menu that appears and tap "Add to Home Screen".
    • Key step: On the confirmation screen, make sure to toggle on "Open as Web App". This way it will launch in a standalone window similar to a native app when opened, rather than opening as a regular browser tab.
    • Tap "Add" in the upper right corner.
  2. 💻 Mac Laptop (Safari)
    • On macOS, Safari's PWA installation is called "Add to Dock," and it requires macOS Sonoma (14) or a later version to use.
    • Open the Fyke website in Safari.
    • In the menu bar at the top of the screen, click "File".
    • Select "Add to Dock" (if you don't see this option, your system version may be too old; you can try "File" → "Add to Home Screen" in older versions).
    • Give the app a name in the popup window, then click "Add". It will appear in your Dock and Launchpad, and can run independently of Safari.
  3. 📱 Android (Chrome)
    • Instructions for Chrome also work for other Chrome-based browsers.
    • Open the Fyke website in Chrome.
    • Tap the stacked 3 dots in the upper right corner.
    • Scroll down and tap "Install and create shortcut"
    • Follow the on screen instructions to install the app.
  4. 💻 Windows Laptop (Chrome)
    • Instructions for Chrome also work for other Chrome-based browsers.
    • Open the Fyke website in Chrome.
    • Tap the computer icon just to the left of the star icon at the right end of the address bar at the top of the screen
    • Follow the on screen instructions to install the app.
