The Celery Farm is a 107-acre freshwater wetland in Allendale, New Jersey. Volunteers from Fyke are responsible for creating and maintaining the footpaths around the preserve, the three observation platforms and the nesting boxes.
Over 240 species of birds have been recorded here, and more than 50 are known to breed here. The wetlands and deciduous woods provide habitat for many mammals, fish, reptiles and insects.
On September 13, 2008, the Town of Allendale and Fyke Nature Association honored the Celery Farm's long-time marsh warden and his wife with
Stiles and Lillian Thomas Day. The event celebrated not only Thomas' 25th year as the Marsh Warden in charge of of the borough's Celery Farm Natural Area,
but also the many contributions of his wife, Lillian.
There were many expressions of appreciation that day, we have recorded two of them on a special page.
